KAPYAD, JOINT WORKING AGREEMENT WITH THE AREA AUTHORITY
KAPYAD's constructive and solution-oriented contributions to the inspection process attracted the attention of the Cappadocia Area Commission and relevant public institutions. To address sector issues comprehensively, a "Consultation Meeting on Tourism Facilities in the Cappadocia Region" was held on April 21, 2025.
The meeting was attended by the Cappadocia Area Authority, Nevşehir Governorship, regional parliamentarians, and district/municipal mayors. The Meeting Minutes signed at the end of the meeting included the following principle decisions:
- Projects for unregistered properties constructed between 1957–1975 can be evaluated by the Cappadocia Area Commission based on archive and source research,
- Unregistered properties constructed between 1975–2019 can be projected provided they do not conflict with the 1/50,000 scale Cappadocia Area Plan,
- For the post-2019 period (after the establishment of the Cappadocia Area Authority), non-conforming applications will be addressed under Laws No. 2863 and 7174.
These decisions represent an important step toward providing facilities with long-term solutions not only in terms of safety but also in terms of property and zoning, thanks to KAPYAD's cooperation with the Cappadocia Area Authority.
In line with this agreement, KAPYAD has taken the lead in preparing an implementation guide to inform its members and facilitate adaptation to the new process, making the goal of Cappadocia becoming both a safe and legally sound tourism region a strategic priority.
Association President Ömer Tosun summarized the cooperation as follows:
"We have entered a new era based on public-private cooperation, where safe tourism has become as much a priority as sustainable tourism in Cappadocia."
